Most are familiar with Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael-Jewish National Fund’s comprehensive work to make Israel green and accessible to all, but many don’t know that they have taken that expertise beyond the country’s borders.Last year, KKL-JNF launched a partnership agreement with the Kenya Forest Service.“The MOU signed with the Kenya Forest Service last year in the field of forestation marked additional international cooperation in areas where KKL-JNF can provide expert professional assistance and guidance, such as afforestation, water, agriculture and more,” KKL-JNF world chairman Daniel Atar said prior to the Jerusalem Post Diplomatic Conference.“Since the beginning of our collaboration last summer, we have had a professional delegation visit Kenya to evaluate different potential sites with the KFS team for a ‘pilot’ forest to be planted in the arid region of the country. Our teams are currently in the process of producing a long-term operational plan for afforestation efforts in Kenya,” he said, adding that he plans to continue expanding KKL-JNF’s international collaborations in the years to come.
