Frankfurt police to reopen case against murdered Jew 22 years ago

Anti-Semitism appears to be motive behind attack.

BERLIN – Frankfurt’s police reopened a 22-year-old case involving the murder of a German Jewish woman, according to German media.
German news outlets reported on Monday that Frankfurt’s prosecutor, Doris Möller-Scheu, confirmed that the police will question a suspect who is serving a life sentence in Sweden for attempts to murder migrants. The murder appears to be a racially motivated hate crime.
According to media reports in the Die Welt newspaper and the DPA news agency, the police have not scheduled an interrogation session with the suspect.
The police previously suspected the man as the culprit, but discontinued the investigation against him. It is unclear why the police pulled the plug on their investigation.
German media reported that a cyclist shot the Jewish woman – who had a “foreign sounding name” on February 23, 1992, in the Westend section of Frankfurt. The shot was fired into her head and she was robbed.
The 68-year-old woman worked checking coats at a local restaurant and was on her way home. The suspect is believed to have argued with the woman and alleged she stole his electronic notebook.
