Imports of cars to Israel increased by 20 percent during the month of March to 8,910 private cars, compared with 7,400 in March last year, the Israel Tax Authority reported on Tuesday.
At the same time, the number of commercial car imports fell by 25% to 670 compared with 897 last year.
In the first quarter of 2007, the number of imported cars for private usage increased by 31.7% to 44,360 compared with the same period last year, mainly due to the car purchase tax changes in January this year.
