Sunday, January 7 "After Lebanon, a new Middle East?" is the title of a symposium to be held from 4 p.m. at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya. Tuesday, January 9 A one-day conference focusing on the Iranian threat will be held at the Hebrew University , Jerusalem. The conference, entitled "In the Eye of the Storm: Iran in Global Perspectives," is being run in cooperation with the Harry S. Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace and The Israel Project. The conference will take place at the Maiersdorf Faculty Club at the Mount Scopus campus from 8:30 a.m. until 6:15 p.m. Sessions will include: Iran's Rivals: The Western Powers; Iran's Backyard: The Muslim Middle East; Iran's Strategic Hinterland: The Asian Powers; and Iran's Universal Appeal. Governor of the Bank of Israel , Prof. Stanley Fischer will be the guest speaker at the Biennial National Convention of the Association of Americans and Canadians in Israel. To mark the 100th anniversary of the Helsingfors Zionist Conference, the Jabotinsky Institute will hold a symposium on what was then considered to be a Zionist Summit conference on Jewish autonomy, the lessons to be learned from it and its place in Jabotinsky's ideology. Speakers will include Prof. Arye Naor, Prof. Ruth Lapidot and Prof. Yosef Gurni. The conference, which is a joint project of Yad Vashem's International Institute for Holocaust Research and the Ruth and Bruce Rappaport Faculty of Medicine at the Technion - The Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, will focus on The Holocaust, Medicine and Medical Ethics. Friday February 2 The Interfaith Encounter Association (IEA) is hosting a two-day retreat in Nes Amim on the theme of environmental care in the Jewish, Christian and Muslim traditions. The retreat is partially subsidized by Nes Amim.
