US condemns 'hateful' West Bank mosque attack

The United States on Tuesday condemned the West Bank mosque attack overnight Monday, calling it "hateful, dangerous and provocative."

"Price tag" assailants burned a mosque in Jab'a village, near Ramallah , police said Tuesday. The attackers also sprayed graffiti on the mosque, including the words "Ulpana war," indicating that this was a price tag attack- an act of violence by right-wing activists against Arabs aimed at deterring Israeli leadership from acting against the settlement enterprise.

"We note that the Israeli Government has condemned this heinous attack and pledged to bring the perpetrators to justice. We look to Israeli law enforcement officials to do so expeditiously," US State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland said in a statement.
