UN envoy, Libya rebels discuss ideas for peace

BENGHAZI - The UN envoy to Libya and the Benghazi-based rebel council said on Monday they had discussed some general ideas for triggering a political process to end the war but there was no firm initiative on the table.
Abdul Elah al-Khatib told Reuters after the meeting that he would be heading to Tripoli on Tuesday to canvas views there.
Senior rebel Mahmoud Jibreel said the rebels would not accept any initiative that did not include the removal of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi from power as the first step to peace.
