Two police officers lightly hurt during haredi draft protest in Jerusalem

Two police officers were lightly wounded by rocks thrown by haredim protesting the IDF draft in Mea Shearim Wednesday night. According to Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld, at approximately 10:30 p.m. roughly 200 male residents of the primarily ultra-orthodox community gathered to block roads and “disturb the public order.”
When police arrived at the scene to disperse the crowd, he said rocks were thrown at responding officers, wounding two, who were treated at an area hospital for light wounds. Rosenfeld said police also responded to disturbances in Beit Shemesh.
Both protests were dispersed without any other reported injuries, Rosenfeld said, adding that no arrests were made.
