Syria bans veil covering from universities

Syrian authorities banned women from wearing the niqab - a face-covering worn by some religious Muslim women- from private and public universities on Sunday, CBS News reported.
The government also reportedly forced 1,200 women teachers who wore the burka to leave their jobs or seek reassignment away from classroom duties.
The new government efforts were described as an attempt to fight the inroads radical Islam has been making over the recent years into Syrian society.
