Students scramble for Rav Kav card following new discount

The return of students to Jerusalem is creating heavy demand for the new Rav Kav cards for buses and the light rail, causing major lines at the Central Bus Station as hundreds of students scramble to sign up for the rechargeable card.

One of the results from the summer of social protests was the decision to offer half price bus tickets for students. These discounts are only available with the Rav Kav card.

The light rail will still remain free of charge as little process has been made in updating the traffic lights to give preference to the trains, one of the main obstacles to the train running at full operation.
