Smoke-inhalation victims encounter red tape in Israeli hospitals

Some smoke-inhalation victims in the last week who arrived at hospital emergency rooms have been refused treatment without the “#17 form” in which health funds agree to cover the cost.
This was revealed on Sunday by Knesset Finance Committee chairman MK Moshe Gafni, who demanded that health system administrators give an order for immediate treatment at no charge even if victims do not bring a form with them.
The United Torah Judaism MK said that he has been receiving many complaints from residents who had the experience and were asked by hospitals to pay for the treatment. “We demand that something be done urgently to eliminate the red tape involving #17 forms in the hospitals,” he insisted.
