At the insistence of Israel Beiteinu leader Avigdor Lieberman, Knesset Law Committee head David Rotem of his party rescinded his candidacy to be the Knesset's representative on the committe that will choose the next attorney-general.
A source close to Lieberman said he did not want to be seen as interfering with choosing Attorney-General Menahem Mazuz's replacement when an indictment against him is pending.
Mazuz has announced he will leave in January and has refused calls to stay on for an addition period of time to wrap up open investigations of multiple political figures.
