Professor Nili Cohen to be awarded Israel Prize

Prof. Nili Cohen, president of the Israel Academy of Science and Humanities, will be awarded the Israel Prize for Legal Research, Education Minister Naftali Bennett announced on Thursday. “Prof. Nili Cohen is a leading researcher in the field of contract law as well as in other sectors of Israeli law,” the prize committee, headed by Prof. Ruth Ben-Israel, wrote in its decision.
“The contribution of Prof. Cohen to promote the study of law is recognized in Israel and worldwide. Prof. Cohen has created a new area of study in the field of Israeli law, interdisciplinary research, called Law and Literature. The inherent power of her research stems to a great extent from being groundbreaking and an examination of limits. Her writing explores the integration of legal literature and law in literature and examined the boundaries between private and public and between morality and the law,” the committee wrote.
