Phone bill aid for disabled to increase

The Welfare and Social Services Ministry announced this week that it would be increasing its financial aid toward blind and handicapped people’s Bezeq phone bills.
Many in the blind and disabled community use the phone frequently to access vital services such as health clinics, hospitals and banks. The ministry initiative aims to help cover land line expenses for those who “have difficulty with mobility” and “conduct their lives by phone.”
Welfare and Social Services Minister Meir Cohen said the ministry “attaches the utmost importance to giving assistance to the blind and the handicapped.” He added that “increasing the aid paid to Bezeq is one example of a large range of services that the ministry offers to these populations in order to improve their quality of life.”
