Oran Helman to be appointed as new GPO director

Long time, outspoken and often controversial Government Press Office director Danny Seaman will be replaced by Oran Helman, who served as an adviser for Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu when the later was Finance Minister in the early 2000s, the Public Diplomacy and Diaspora Affairs Ministry announced Wednesday.

In addition, Helman, 41, served previously as a spokesman for the Israel Broadcasting Authority.

The GPO is part of the Public Diplomacy and Diaspora Affairs Ministry, and is responsible for issuing government press cards, and coordinating media coverage for state events and official visits by foreign leaders. It is also responsible for the National Photo Collection.
