Obama says US to remain engaged in Mideast for the "long haul"

Despite the criticism and skepticism of American influence in the Middle East, the US "will be engaged in the region for the long haul," US President Barack Obama said Tuesday at the UN General Assembly in New York."We must remain engaged [in the region] for our own security," he said.In regard to Egypt, Obama said US support to the country would depend on Cairo's proccess of developing "a more democratic path."
