NATO strikes munitions bunkers near Tripoli

BRUSSELS - NATO conducted an air strike

against munitions bunkers 13 kilometers (8 miles) from the Libyan
capital Tripoli on Wednesday, a NATO official said.

A loud explosion was heard in Tripoli on Wednesday afternoon

and the Al Arabiya television station reported two explosions
close to Tripoli's airport.

"We can confirm there was a deliberate air strike on

munitions bunkers roughly 13 km southeast of Tripoli," a NATO
official said, when asked about the explosions.

He gave no more

details.
