Tibi: Media blaming Arab for Beersheba attack is racist

Member of Knesset Ahmed Tibi (United Arab List) on Tuesday said the automatic blame that the Israeli media assigned to an Arab in the shooting in a Beersheba bank that killed four was racist.

In a written statement Tibi stated: "The Israeli media's automatic blame of Arabs in Rahat (a Beduin town near Beersheba) to the horrible killing in Beersheba is stereotypical racism, revealing an element [in the media] that hoped that the murderer would be an Arab. Broadcasting a malicious false accusation demands an immediate apology."

"These actions strengthen hatred of Arabs which is not the media's role," the member of Knesset added.
