Life sentences for murderers of Luken, Sorek

The Jerusalem District Court on Thursday handed down two consecutive life sentences plus an additional 60 years in prison to terror cell leader Kifah Ghanimat. The Palestinian terrorist was responsible for murdering American tourist Kristine Luken and Zikhron Yaakov resident Neta Sorek.

Ghanimat was convicted in September of murdering Luken, an American, in the Mata forest outside Jerusalem in December 2010, and of murdering Sorek near the Beit Jamal monastery near Beit Shemesh in February 2010.

The court also handed down a life sentence plus an additional 16 years in prison to Ibrahim Ghanimat, who was also convicted of Sorek's murder.

Kifah Ghanimat was the leader of a Palestinian terror cell which included Aiad Fatfata and Ibrahim Ghanimat - all residents of villages in the Hebron area. Together they were responsible for a number of other crimes.
