Labor's Rosenthal: Netanyahu, Lapid burying Israeli society

Labor MK Miki Rosenthal on Saturday attacked the economic policies of the government, saying that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu had "destroyed the fabric of Israeli society," and Finance Minister Yair Lapid "is permanently burying any chance to rehabilitate it."
Rosenthal's comments came at a political event in Ramat Gan a day before the value added tax (VAT) was set to rise from 17 percent to 18%.
"The budget, the Economic Arrangements Bill and the scandalous raising of the VAT by 1%, as was decided by Finance Minister Yair Lapid, is leading to two million Israelis to march quickly below the poverty line," Rosenthal contended.
"If Lapid does not back off from his bad plans, the State of Israel will have to invest four times the amount in order to get its citizens back to their current situation," the Labor MK stated. "Lapid must construct log-term budget plans and not just hole-filling measures, otherwise Israeli society will collapse. Without vision there is no future."
