Judicial Ombundsman to investigate Judge's suicide

Supreme Court President Justice Dorit Beinisch and Courts Administration Director Judge Moshe Gal requested on Monday that Judiciary Ombudsman Supreme Court Justice (ret.) Eliezer Goldberg conduct an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the suicide of Judge Mourice Benatar, last month.

According to the Courts Administration Spokeswoman, in the days following Benatar’s death, Beinisch herself conducted a thorough internal inspection and found no fault in the treatment Benatar had received from the various justice systems departments and their directors.

Benatar had written in a suicide letter that one of the reasons he killed himself was because of work overload.
