J'lem mayor says status as capital 'not subject for debate'

Jerusalem mayor Nir Barkat on Wednesday dismissed the political arguments surrounding the US Democratic party's exclusion of a clause citing Jerusalem as Israel's capital from its 2012 platform.
"The fact that Jerusalem is the capital of the State of Israel is not a subject for debate, and its status is not affected by foreign political platforms or elections,” he said.
