IDF concerned Syrian weapons will end up with terrorists

If the embattled regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad falls, the IDF is concerned that the governments stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons will end up in the hands of terrorist organizations, OC Planning Directorate Maj.-Gen. Amir Eshel said Tuesday according to Army Radio.
Speaking at the Jerusalem Center for Public and State Affairs, Eshel said "The question is not whether the Assad will be ousted, it is when."
The concern over Syrian weapons underlines Israeli fears over the instability in Middle Eastern nations following the sudden removal of long-time governments, such as in Libya and Egypt.
Deputy Prime Minister Moshe Ya'alon said last year that Israel was concerned that Libyan weapons were making their way across Egypt, through Sinai and into the hands of Palestinian terrorists in the Gaza Strip.
