IBA license fee to be cut by 5% in 2012

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu turned down an Israel Broadcast Authority request at Sunday's cabinet meeting not to cancel a 5% cut in the annual license fees, meaning this particular tax reduction will go into effect at the beginning of the year.

The 5% reduction translates into a NIS 30 cut in the IBA budget. As a result, the cabinet approved the IBA's request that it be exempt from an obligation to invest 36% of its 2011 income in original productions.
