Hundreds protest VAT on tourism outside PM's office

Hundreds of people were outside the Prime Minister's Office in Jerusalem on Monday morning protesting Finance Minister Yair Lapid's decision to eliminate the exemption on value added tax for tourists, Army Radio reported.
The protestors said the decision raises vacation prices substantially, and that people planning to visit Israel have already begun canceling their vacations. According to demonstrators, this will result in a harsh blow to the Israeli tourism industry.
The cabinet is expected to vote on Lapid's 2013 - 2014 budget proposal later Monday.
