Hamas arrests hairdresser in Gaza for cutting woman's hair

At least one male hairdresser was arrested in the Gaza Strip this last week as Hamas began enforcing a law that forbids men from cutting a woman's hair, BBC reported Thursday. Men were reportedly seen sitting outside of their salons following the arrest, fearing their own safety in light of more stringent conditions.
Hamas started enforcing the law in an attempt to increase Islamic credibility for the ruling group which critics claimed had become increasingly moderate, BBC said.
According to the report, male stylists working on a woman's hair is generally considered unlawful in Islam.
