France next to vote on Palestinian statehood?

France's Socialist party is pushing forward a motion to ask the government to recognize Palestine as a state, the state's AFP news service quoted sources as saying Tuesday.
The move comes on the heels of Britain’s House of Commons voting in favor of Palestinian statehood last month, a move that is largely symbolic as it does not change the country's policy on the issue.
The Socialist lawmakers see the future vote as a way to advance the currently-stalled Israeli-Palestinian peace process, according to AFP, and plan to meet with Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius on Wednesday to discuss their proposal.
