Expert: UK at risk of aircraft terror attacks

A House of Lords member responsible for reviewing Britain's terrorism laws says the country needs better defenses against the risk of small airplanes being used in terror attacks. Alex Carlile published his annual report Wednesday looking at how Britain's law enforcement and legal systems deal with terrorism cases. He says security officials and police have concerns about the ease with which terrorists could mount attacks with small airplanes. Carlile says Britain is at risk because it has large numbers of private aircraft and airfields. He says police and pilots need new training to guard against the threat. Home Secretary Alan Johnson says steps are being taken to strengthen defenses in the aviation industry.
