European Parliament urges impartial probe of Jaradat death

The European Parliament called on Israel to conduct an impartial investigation into the death of Palestinian detainee Arafat Jaradat in Israeli jail last month, AFP reported on Thursday.

The parliament passed a resolution reiterating its support for Israel, but urging it to opend an "independent, impartial and transparent investigations into the circumstances of Mr Jaradat's death."

Jaradat's death sparked violent demonstrations across the West Bank last month. Palestinian officials have accused the Shin Bet of torturing Jaradat during interrogation.
