Ban says Gaddafi should listen to Libyan people

GENEVA - UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said on Thursday that negotiations were underway to end the conflict in Libya and that leader Muammar Gaddafi should draw conclusions based on his people's best interests.
"We are far from reaching an agreement to reach an end to the conflict but the negotiating process is ongoing," Ban told reporters in Geneva, reiterating his call for an immediate and verifiable ceasefire so as to allow aid to reach civilians.
"He (Gaddafi) has to listen much more attentively and seriously what would be the best for the future of the Libyan people," Ban said.
