Autopsy finds Palestinian prisoner Hamdiyeh died of cancer

Maissara Abu Hamdiyeh, the Palestinian prisoner serving a life term in Israel who died on Tuesday, was found to have died of complications caused by cancer, in an autopsy carried out at the  Institute of Forensic Medicine at Abu Kabir in Tel Aviv on Wednesday.
A malignant growth was found in Hamdiyeh's throat. The Palestinian Authority has claimed that Israeli was negligent, not properly treating Hamdiyeh or acquiescing to calls to release him. A Palestinian representative was present at the autopsy
The autopsy report added that Hamdiyeh was a "heavy smoker."
His body was transferred to the Palestinian Authority following the autopsy. Hamdiyeh was scheduled to be laid to rest in Hebron on Thursday.
