Families of hostages smeared yellow paint on the glass that separates the guest stand from the Knesset plenum Wednesday afternoon, according to Israeli media reports.
The opposition leader, Yair Lapid, commented, "I call on the protesters to abide by the law, and I call on the police to protect the protesters; it is their duty."
He expressed sympathy for the family members while condemning the current government. He said, "These are the families of the hostages whom you abandoned, who became captives in the tunnels of Hamas under your watch.
"There is no other country in the world where this government would have remained in power on October 8. It is a shame for generations that you remained in power, but if you're going to remain in power, then take care of the captives and their families."
