Argentina extradites convicted Israeli rapist

An Israeli man who fled to Argentina after being convicted of serious sex crimes was extradited to Israel on Tuesday.
The defendant, who is in his forties and cannot be named because of a media gag order, was convicted in the Tel Aviv District Court in 2008 on multiple charges of rape and sexual assault against his two daughters, daughter-in-law and another woman.
Although the defendant was initially remanded in custody after his arrest, during the trial the court agreed to his lawyer's request to release him to house arrest. After his conviction and while waiting to be sentenced, the defendant asked permission to leave the house to meet with his lawyer, but instead used the opportunity to flee to Europe using his brother's passport. From Europe, he flew to Argentina.
