American-born drummer, composer and singer Tommy Snyder has had a prolific international career for the last four decades, much of it based in Japan where he is a member of GODIEGO, one of the most popular rock groups in Japanese history. With GODIEGO he has recorded 40 albums and performed throughout Asia, including a concert for 60,000 in Nepal.
That is only part of the story though - he has also released six solo albums, composed music for numerous artists and commercials, and has been involved in a host of other musical activities including a very popular cassette series for learning English in Japan.
A respected clinician, he has given high-profile drum workshops throughout the world, mostly focused on electronic drums and percussion. He has had a 20-year relationship with the Roland Corporation, one of the leading innovators in electronic music technology, and this has enabled him to develop cutting-edge techniques for use with the latest musical gadgets.
Now based in Paris, he is in Israel this week for a series of electronic music/percussion workshops sponsored by Roland. These workshops are free but require pre-registration as space is limited. This is a rare chance to see an internationally renowned master at work.
