Local fans of world music were treated last week to a series of performances by Prem Joshua, one of the genre's most celebrated artists. In a sold-out tour brought to Israel by independent producers Natalie Abraham and Jivany, the Asian-Western fusion master managed to sell out four shows and plans are under way for a return tour next year. During his performance at the Barbi Club in Tel-Aviv, Joshua introduced a song based on an ancient Indian chant which is thought to cast a veil of protection over the person saying it. "This place, Israel, could use this song. It is a song that brings peace and protection," he said.
