The Israeli Opera has announced its 2009-2010 musical season, which will encompass a wide variety of events geared to different crowds. There will be five classical music series, including a new classic-rock series. During the season, four orchestras, six choirs and 60 soloists will take the stage for a total of 20 concerts and 120 works.
The Liturgical Series will include works by Rossini, Haydn, Mozart, Ariel Ramirez and Bacalov. The Big Musicians Series will feature bass Paata Burchuladze and tenor Neil Shicoff. Meanwhile, the Light Classics Series will take on Copland and Gershwin, among others, as the Symphonic Series holds seven concerts of favorites by Beethoven, Mahler, Stravinsky and others. And the new Classic Rock Series will provide symphonic renditions of music from the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper to Pink Floyd's The Wall.
