The annual Tel Aviv-Los Angeles Master Class for film professionals will take place from July 21-31. This year's participants will be Darren Star (creator of Sex and the City), Nina Tassler (president of CBS Entertainment), Gail Berman (former president of Fox Television, Viacom Paramount Pictures and producer of Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Bill Masters (a writer whose credits include Seinfeld), Jerry Levine (director who worked on Monk and many other series), Sarah Treem (head writer of HBO's In Treatment), talent manager Danny Sussman and others. It features workshops, master classes and special events, primarily for Israeli students and filmmakers. The Tel Aviv-Los Angeles Master Class is a project of the Los Angeles Jewish Federation. It is held at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque and is cosponsored by the HOT cable television company. This year's workshops will focus in part on the creative overlap between high-end Israeli television series and US television networks which are remaking them, such as In Treatment, which started as Betipul in Israel and went on to become the Emmy-winning HBO series.
