Reserve soldiers in an infantry battalion are complaining of harsh conditions on Wednesday after their air conditioners broke down due to record-breaking power consumption during a heatwave, Walla! news reported.

The soldiers were forced to stay in unused tents because of the mishap, and 15 soldiers needed medical treatment due to dehydration.

The electricity company reported that the all-time high for power usage reached 12,921 megawatts at 2:50 p.m due to the extreme weather conditions.

The previous peak from September 2015 was 12,905 megawatts.
