The bravery and dramatic rescue in Entebbe in 1976 is one of the most famous stories in Israel. And soon it will hit movie theaters around the world.
On Thursday, Focus Features published a trailer for its upcoming film 7 Days in Entebbe, which will be released in March 2018.
The movie, directed by Jose Padilha, stars Daniel Bruhl and Rosamund Pike, who portray two of the terrorists who hijacked the famous Air France plane. Prime minister Yitzhak Rabin is played by beloved Israeli actor Lior Ashkenazi, and Yoni Netanyahu, the younger brother of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is portrayed by Uruguayan-Israeli Angel Bonanni. The British Eddie Marsan plays Shimon Peres, who was defense minister at the time of the operation.
The film tells the real-life story of the 1976 hijacking, where four terrorists hijacked an Air France flight from Tel Aviv to Paris and landed it in Entebbe, Uganda. The hijackers released the non-Israeli hostages and kept more than 100 in the airport, leaving it up to the Israeli army to rescue them.
Numerous documentaries have been made about the rescue operation, and several feature films as well, including two US TV movies and the Israeli Mivtsa Yonatan.
