Music and munchies
Culinary meets concerts as the Zappa Club reintroduces their Chef & Show series, which combines top-notch musical performances with dishes served by some of Israel’s best-loved chefs.
Zappa’s Haifa Club presents famed singer-songwriter Amir Dadon paired with chef David Frankel (of Pronto restaurant glory). Dadon is known for hits like “Or Gadol” and “She’eriot Shel Ha’chaim” with Idan Raichel, and for winning the Israel Theater award for best actor in a musical for his portrayal of Jean Valjean in Habima’s Hebrew interpretation of Les Miserables.
Frankel will present specialty dishes in addition to the club’s regular menu, while Dadon serenades the audiences with tunes from his two wildly successful studio albums as well as songs from his soon-to-be released third album.
Zappa Haifa, November 6. Tickets run NIS 144 per person. Doors open at 8:15 p.m. and the show starts at 10 p.m., but get there early and start chowing down! For tickets, go to www.zappa-club.co.il/ .

Thriller night (run)
Elsewhere in the world, many may be trick-or-treating and setting out jacko- lanterns, but the annual Tel Aviv Night Run will light up the streets of the White City! Over 25,000 runners are expected to take part in the 10-km. run, which will include dashes down Dizengoff, Ibn Gabirol, Habima Square and more. Along the route there will be several music stages with rotating DJs, spectacular lighting, and at the finish line will await booths on athletics, fashion, music and more.
The race begins at 8:30 p.m. on October 31 and is open to runners aged 14 and up.
Runners will begin the race at the Bar Yehuda Bridge on Ibn Gabirol and set out in five separate groups to allow for comfortable running space, with the last group departing at 9:30 p.m. The race finishes in Ganei Yehoshua Park. Registration is NIS 190 per person, or NIS 50 for Tel Aviv locals with a resident’s card. For more information and to sign up, check out: www.tlvnightrun.co.il/MenuDefault.aspx? Id=4271
Get your glamp on
Interested in Israel’s plethora of desert getaways but not so sure about the DIY camping involved? Consider “glamping,” where you can rough it… a little less roughly. The next community glamping trip will be November 2 to 4, and will feature music and bonfires, sunrise hikes, meditation, yoga, health workshops, a Carlebach Kabbalat Shabbat, meals with vegetarian options, and – unlike most desert fests – amenities like bedding, towels and hot showers. Experience not required – you can be outdoorsy, too! The three-day camping in comfort runs NIS 595 per person and takes place at Genesis Land, off Route 1 near Alon. SOUTH
Yoga in the Arava
If getting in touch with your inner self while gazing out at the desert is your cup of tea, then head south for this year’s Yoga in the Arava.
The seventh year of this multi-location festival spreads out once again over the villages of the Arava wilderness. Participants choose a teacher, location, or workshop type that most interests them and commit to that yoga practice for the weekend of November 2 to 4. All participants will come together for sunset yoga Friday night at Timna Park (wear white!). This unique gathering will feature a yoga workshop with guest teacher Yogini Kaliji, a live music performance, Kabbalat Shabbat and a communal Shabbat dinner.
