ORT establishes first Israeli training program for Filipino educators

A delegation of teachers and principals from Davao City landed this month in Israel, to learn innovative teaching methods from the ORT Research and Development Center in Tel Aviv last week.The Philippines Ambassador to Israel Nathaniel G. Imperial and the CEO of ORT-Israel Zvi Peleg, attended last Thursday's signing ceremony along with a delegation of educators from Davao City, the country's third largest city.The agreement between Davao and ORT-Israel has been developing over the past 18 months in partnership with the Pass-it-Forward organization, founded by Shmuel Weiss. It includes innovative Israeli science and technology educational programs developed by ORT Israel, which will be exported to thousands of local Filipino students."We are proud to be the pioneers in exporting educational innovation and promoting Israel's position in the world with state of the art advanced learning methods," Zvi Peleg, the Director-General of ORT Israel, said.This agreement follows last month's visit of Rodrigo Duterte, the president of the Philippines, who was accompanied by his daughter, Sara Duterte, the mayor of Davao City.During her trip to Israel, she toured ORT-Israel classes and innovation centers, attended workshops, simulations, learned about its ISTEAM program, brain science classes and the concept of creating a StartUp environment in educational institutions.
