Four years after she canceled a show in Israel, singer Lana del Rey will be heading to the Holy Land to perform next month.
According to Channel 2 News, the American singer/songwriter will be appearing as part of the three-day Meteor Festival taking place next month on a kibbutz in the North.
Del Rey – who is responsible for such hits as “Summertime Sadness” and “Young and Beautiful” – was scheduled to perform her first-ever Israel show in August 2014. But the show was canceled earlier that month as Operation Protective Edge showed no signs of ending.
The Meteor Festival – an unprecedented event for Israel – already has an impressive lineup of international acts, including rapper Pusha T, DJ Flying Lotus and jazz saxophonist Kamasi Washington.
The three-day event is scheduled to take place at Kibbutz Lahavot Habashan, just over 10 km. from the border with Lebanon.
Despite a string of high-profile cancellations in recent days over the “security situation,” festival organizers refused to answer questions earlier this month about such concerns. Just this month, rappers Tyga, Fat Joe and Grandmaster Flash all canceled shows in Israel citing security concerns.
The festival has yet to officially announce Del Rey’s appearance. A report on Channel 2 News said that organizers wanted to wait until closer to the date to minimize Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions pressures on the artist.
