Purim Parody: Trump names Jacob Zuma as US secretary of state

In a shock move, the Trump administration has named South Africa’s most controversial former president as secretary of state.The deal Trump struck with Zuma includes a $260,000 annual salary per year and diplomatic immunity so that he will not have to face any potential extradition or corruption charges in his home country.It’s believed Zuma has named his businessman son Duduzane Zuma and corruption accused businessman Ajay Gupta – who helped Zuma achieve state capture – as his advisors.However, to political analyst Treva Cohen the move was not “in the least a surprise.”“I’m actually shocked it’s taken this long for the two to get together. Both President Trump and former president Zuma have a lot in common. If you compare the two, both have been accused of a broad range of similar charges. I don’t know why people are so surprised; it makes a lot of sense,” he told The Jerusalem Roast this week.“Both have had reputations as a ‘man of the people,’ so just imagine what the two can do together. Zuma’s most avid supporters in South Africa were found in rural areas; the same can be said for Trump in the US. Trump and Zuma also both believe the media is dishonest. Zuma was quoted as saying in 2006 that the media ‘has tried to tell people how useless’ he is. ‘That’s the problem with the media,’ he said. Trump has said the same countless times, branded stories about him ‘fake news’ and called the media ‘an outright liar,’” Cohen said.“It’s a match made in heaven if you ask me. They’ve both been called Teflon presidents. I wish the United States of America the best of luck having both of these... um... interesting leaders at the helm,” Cohen added.
