Famed Israeli singer Yigal Bashan recovering from stab wound

Well-known Israeli singer-songwriter Yigal Bashan was taken to Ichilov Medical Center in Tel Aviv Sunday afternoon after having been stabbed in the chest. The 63-year-old performer was taken into surgery soon after he was admitted.
According to a report broadcast on Israel’s Army Radio, police have ruled out a criminal motive for the attack.
Paddy Yettav, Bashan’s manager, said he “hopes there will be an improvement in his condition.” He added that the last time he spoke with Bashan he “seemed to be doing well.”
Bashan has produced more than 30 albums and was known as a member of a trio in the 1980s children’s program, Hopa Hey.
Among his hits are “Sivan,” “Yesh Li Tzipor Ketana B’Lev” (A Little Bird in my Heart) and “Sweet Sweet.” Bashan also recorded the opening theme music for the series Neils Holgerson and the Wild Geese.
