The American comedian Chelsea Handler has called on the US Transportation Security Administration to implement special security checks on Muslim passengers at airports.
Handler made the controversial remark on the Saturday night episode of her Netflix show 'Chelsea Does.'
"This is not a popular thing to say, but if Muslims are primarily the people that are blowing up planes, then I would like the TSA to be searching Muslims before I get on a plane," she said.
Handler's comments aroused furious reactions on social media with one person saying that "Chelsea Does Racism" would be a better name for the show.
The Jewish American comedian, a well-known Israel supporter, visited the country in January 2015 for a fundraiser supporting Sheba Medical Center's Tal Center for Integrative Oncology.
American Muslims have also claimed that while Handler focuses on the brutality of police against black people in the US, she ignores "the Israeli brutality against Palestinians."
