Haifa-based neuro startup wins $75,000 at healthcare challenge

Montfort, an Israeli startup specializing in neurological disorders, was chosen from more than 60 applicants as the winner of Henry Ford Health System’s first artificial intelligence (AI) Healthcare Challenge. They will receive a grant of $75,000, ongoing mentorship from Henry Ford experts, and assistance with widespread adoption.

Montfort (Mon4T) uses standard handsets to provide a real-time brain monitor for patients with neurological conditions like Parkinson’s and Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH). The application records and analyzes patient data through machine learning to deconstruct large data sets.

The company was founded in 2014 by Ziv Yekutieli and Dima Gershman. According to Ziv, “Montfort’s machine learning applications provide unbiased analysis of movement disorders that even a trained clinician might miss. While we certainly appreciate the 75k, the data and insights from Henry Ford will be priceless.”

Henry Ford Health System is the largest health system in Michigan, with over $6 billion in revenue, six hospitals and more than 200 clinics. The 75k AI Challenge is part of Henry Ford’s Global Technology Development Program for Israel. Over the next two years, the program will fund up to eight co-development projects with Israeli startups.  Scott Dulchavsky, CEO of the Henry Ford Innovation Institute and Chief Surgeon, awarded the prize. Montfort’s AI technology represents a genuine breakthrough. Working closely with Montfort, we think this can lead to better patient care.”

Mark Coticchia, Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer for Henry Ford Health System, is looking for more partnerships. “Our goal is to improve efficiency. If AI can ease the burden of routine tests and diagnostics, that leaves more time for patient care.”

Israeli health tech startups interested in participating in co-development projects with Henry Ford should contact Levi Shapiro, Founder of mHealth Israel, which is supporting the project.  Register HERE for the program.
