What Is It About ISIS That Inspires?

What is it about the Islamic State In Syria (ISIS) that inspires, attracts and animates the most barbaric acts of savagery, by those damaged souls bereft of their humanity? And why is it that there are those in the American media and government who rush to obscure, obfuscate and delay acknowledging obvious acts of terrorism?

After the Ft. Lauderdale airport attack, when five innocents were gunned down in cold blood, I wondered how long it would take the media to reveal that the terrorist was connected in some manner, real or imagined to ISIS. And how long would it take the mainstream media to reveal that the same terrorist has been pictured on the social media wearing a Palestinian keffiyeh scarf?

Ironically even as I write this blog, Palestinians are celebrating their latest slaughter of four Israelis in Jerusalem while Jews worldwide mourn the loss of life and the lack of civility from the wolves at their doors. But irony has no bounds for the keffiyeh is often seen worn around the neck by extreme left-wing Jewish college students as a political fashion statement showing solidarity, not with besieged Israelis, but with their revered Palestinians.

I’ve taken notice that when the media can no longer pretend that which is, is, because it has been cornered by the facts, it lashes out like a trapped talking head against those who call it to task. It then resorts to its most primitive instincts: word playing, parsing and dredging up euphemisms. The media has both the talent and penchant for deceptive reporting, which it does so well.

It invariably comes up with the good old standby rationale for heinous acts perpetrated by Islamist terrorists as being the work of a ‘lone wolf’, who is mentally disturbed, small comfort for those lying dead. That is usually the liberal’s knee-jerk first line of defense in an admirable effort to protect innocent Muslims from any backlash by the torch bearing, pitchfork grasping ‘Deplorables’ roaming the streets of America, like so many reanimated zombies. The fact that Arabs make up 5% of the world population and account for 45% if the world’s terrorist attacks does not seem to register with them, nor does the fact that 70% of the war-terrorist attacks in the world are carried out by Arabs.

So the question still stands: when a lone wolf mental case slinks out from its lair to track, stalk and kill its targeted prey, why is it that the predator invariably claims to commit its acts of terror in the name of Islam?

Of course the champions of political correctness pull every explanation from their PC bag of excuses, starting with: it was someone else’s fault and then moving on to the old standbys: feelings of non-acceptance, isolation, discrimination and lack of jobs. But they assiduously dodge answering the question: why do the disaffected lone wolves not proclaim that they are committing mayhem and murder in the name of Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism or any other ‘ism’?

The next question to consider is: if Islamist do not recruit terrorist, as we are assured, then why are the vast majority of those murderous brutes attracted to Islam, jihadism or any other aberrant manifestation of that brand of so-called religion of peace. If that in fact is true, that they do not recruit followers, then what is it about Islam that serves as a magnet which attracts misguided monsters who boast that their acts of terror are inspired by ISIS, Islam or the Palestinians’ stated desire to drive Israelis into the sea?

And please spare me the history lesson about the Crusades, Spanish Inquisition or any other religiously inspired crimes that occurred centuries ago. I am talking about today’s deadly virus that has infected so many young people strolling around campuses and citadels of intellectual elitism, safely ensconced in their safe places, while radical Islamist terrorize those of us who live in the real world.
